Roger & Iris Mitten’s son David, has moved into another house in Southern Ireland.

In the garden was an old Safari caravan. Inside he found some very old photographs of caravans and Caravan Club rallies from the 1930’s to the 1950’s. Some of these photo’s have been taken on rallies in our area, which in those days would have been the Southern Centre of The Caravan Club. They are a fascinating view of what caravan life was like 50 to 70 years ago. If you look closely you will see Club pennants flying on some of the vans and who knows someone might recognise somebody in one of the pictures. If you do, please let us know.

It would appear that there were no rules in those days about distance between caravans. The regulation dress for the gentleman caravanner of the day seemed to be a Harris Tweed jacket complete with tie, no matter what the weather!!
