November 2008

It seems a long time ago that I did a report for the newsletter.  It was definitely before the start of this horrible summer that we have had.

Please note, although the Dinner Dance has been cancelled, the rally at Warblington School is still going ahead with a social planned for the Saturday evening.

If you were not in attendance at the Annual General Meeting, you may not know that I have said that if you wish to run a ‘themed’ rally, then please do so.   First of all check that I have not already booked something into the date that you have chosen.  Once you have done this, go out find your site, arrange things with the landowner, and plan your theme.   Then come back to me with all the details, I will then do all the necessary paperwork and confirm your arrangements with the landowner and incorporate it into the rally programme.   There are only 5 rallies without rally officers for 2009, but if you would like to take one of those, please contact me.

The rallies without rally officers are:

17 – 19 April  at East Ashling

21 – 23 August at Dean

28 – 31 August at Manor Farm Country Park

9 – 11 October – AGM at Liphook

5- 7 December – Xmas Parties at Liphook

If you are running a rally in 2009, could I ask that you please read the information that is put into your rally envelope.  O.k. I know you do not enjoy reading it all, and for some of you it is only going over old ground, but things do change, especially prices in today’s economic climate, I don’t enjoy putting all the paper in the envelopes, but at the end of the day, it is all there to help you.

Please could I ask that if you have booked into a rally, and for some reason you have to cancel, that you be considerate to your rally officers and let them know.  A short phone call is all that is needed, and most rally officers and/or assistants have mobile phones.  In most cases these can be found in the rally book.  Nobody likes sitting about in the cold and wet waiting for somebody to arrive only to make a phone call and be told, oh no we are not coming.

We are coming up to the festive season, and I hope that you all enjoy yourselves.  It would be appreciated if you are going to attend either the Christmas parties rally or the New Year rally that you book in earlier rather than later.   It does help the committee, when arranging things, to know how many people to expect.

In the 2009 programme there are number of holiday rallies and the special booking forms for these are now available.  These are:

13 – 23 July – Bourton-on-the-Water

31 July – 14 August - Chideock

15 – 29 August  -  Normandy, France

6 – 19 September  -  Mevagissey

25 October–1 November–Lyme Regis

6 – 16 November  -  Bridgwater Carnivals

I look forward to seeing you all out on the rally field over the festive period.
